Job posting for a full time research assistant for Canada Blood services, in part helping design the donor compatibility questionnaire.

Considering how often I hassle them about their question 17 (men who have had sex with men even once since 1977 are disqualified), and how many of friends would agree the questionnaire as it stands is dumb...well if you or anyone you know is inclined, please go help bring CBS out of the dark ages.

It appears to me that the position involves questionnaire presentation development, not writing the questions or what they are intending to gather. Regarding the actual question It is my understanding that CBS takes direction from Health Canada on who they can take blood from. Health Canada in turn work with the international community on blood supply as it does get shipped internationally. So I would think that if one wants to change who can give blood then work for Health Canada most likely as a scientist.

haha, i promise you, the decision has nothing to do with science.

Nothing to do with science.

In that case folks need to continue a political campaign to effect the change rather than taking the questionnaire job. I know that there have been some efforts but obviously not successful yet.

I would suggest it would be key to get the Canadian Hemophilia Society on board since they are the group most likely to oppose the change and IMHO have the greatest risk. Their position can be found here.
