
Let me paint a picture for you. Over a year ago, I was travelling in Southern Ontario, and I decided to use the toll highway 407, just to see what it was like. It was nothing special, passed by Toronto, went on my way. I got my bill in the mail for $9.94 as I expected. I paid the bill. I accidentally paid it twice, that part was my fault. Since that day, for the last.....oh, at least a year and a half, I have been getting a monthly statement saying I have a $9.94 credit. I have no intention of ever using the 407 again (it wasn't that convenient). So about a year ago, I called them and asked to settle my account, and get a check for the credit amount (I'd have been willing to pay a service fee, since it was my fault, they never asked for one).
Call 1: Please send me a cheque, all right sir, we will send one right out.
Call 2: 2 of 3 months later: Still no cheque, sorry sir, we will send one right out. (waiing a few months since they claim a processing time, whatever)
Call 3: 3 or so months later again: ditto
Call 4: again later, pretty much ditto, getting annoyed
Call 5: about a month ago, still no cheque, what the hell is going on, talk to your supervisor, etc... At this point, they claim to see a note on my account, the cheque had been mailed 2 days earlier, wow, it's finally on it's way.
Call 6: today: Note on the account, the checque has been mailed yesterday.
Why is it the cheque has been mailed days before I called, both times? What can I do. I got the cheque number this time, and the issue date, and the mail date, and the employee number of the guy claiming it was mailed. I swear, if it doesn't show up this time, I'm not even talking to the operators, they are passing me on to someone who can do something about this. I am sick and tired of getting a statement for 407ETR every month telling me they owe me money.
