Ok, I am now in the market for a bike. The weather is turning around once more, I could conceivably bike to work. Of course on nights I rehearse it may not be practical, but I can still ease myself into it.

Things to do
-Find a store that has a bike big enough for me for sale (this will narrow them down, but there was one place I called last year that had them ,just need to remember who) - if you want to recommend a bike shop to me, feel free, but I will primarily restricted to a store selling a frame big enough for me, I refuse to settle for "almost big enough"
-Get bike and accroutrements (bell, lock, possibly light if there is any chance I am night driving)
-Optionally get some biking paraphenalia (bike pants/shorts if I find them to fit me, maybe small backpack to carry clothes to work...or borrow Helen's)
-Helen is getting a bike to, whether it's at the same time as I do I don't know.
-Store a towel, soap, shampoo in my cubicle for shower. We have a shower at work, though I have never used it.

I figure if I am getting one anyways, it might be nicer to hit earlier in the season whle the stock is better, and I can get an earlier start. This is something Helen and I agreed would be worthwhile to spend tax refund on. Mind you, I need to actually get the tax refund underway as well, but that's a seperate issue, I know I will be getting money.

A store on Wellingtron is ordering in a Giant (actual brand name) brand bike, size XL. Giant only makes a few of these, and they oinly had one model left in the XL. This store (Fresh Air experience) was the only place willing to order this in on spec, without requireing me to put a downpayment on it. In other words, this was the only place where I am still not obliged. So they will get it in mid next week they say, I can check it out, and I don't have to buy it, very cool.

Unless it totally sucks however, I probably will, this frame is rated for people 6'3" to 6'7" and is about as big as bikes come...ever, without custom making one. Very cool, I'm a going bike shopping next week.

In other news, 3 cheers for [livejournal.com profile] am_nesia for passing her defense on her comprehensive exam.

One step left before she's a doctor, then she gets the "Let's play doctor" jokes :)
