Well blow me down
Jul. 8th, 2003 09:56 amWe just had our second quarter results meeting at work. We did all right, met most of our quarter goals, we are no worse off, and a bit better off as a company than 3 months ago. What blew me away was this. Every quarter they give out a "PRO" award (passion, responsibility, ownership) to someone, this quarter, that someone was me. Now I should preface, no one has ever gotten this twice, so it's almost like it's an award in rotation, everyone will get a turn kind of thing. Still, I got it before a lot of other people did. When they called my name, I almost fell out of my chair. It's not the second coming or anything, I get a little certificate (yay), and a $200 entertainment gift certificate (basically I go out and blow $200, and then submit the receipts), but it was really kind of cool to see it. It really reinforces that, when combined with the fact they already spent about $900 US on online java courses for me, that they do see real value in having me as an employee.
So now to spend $200 on "entertainment" :)
Went to the gym yesterday. First time in over 3 months. I across the board did all my exercises exactly one notch down from where I left off last time. Depending on the machine that meant 2.5-20 lbs. of weight less than where I left it. All things considered, I could do it all. Some of them were tough, and my half hour cardio seemed to last longer than I remember it, but I did do it all, and I feel fine today (a few spots where I can feel it, but none where I feel broken). I am too busy right now to do the gym more than once a week, but I will try and keep to once a week anyways. Combine that with fencing, soccer, and biking (when I get to it), and that's a fair level of weekly activity I think.
