So I was reading the paper this morning, and amidst an article about the fate of the same sex marriage in the house of commons in a free vote was a quote from Ajax MP Dan McTeague.
"Canadians are generally outraged and disgusted by the decision and the acquiescence of the prime minister, who does not speak for them and certainly doesn't speak for me,"
I saw red. How dare he! How dare he make such a sweeping statement, or believe he has the authority to comment on how canadians generally feel! No doubt he has had letters from constituents that oppose the bill, fine, they are welcome to write to him with their views. I suspect he has letters that support it as well, but I'm guessing. No way in hell has gotten feedback that gives him the right to say that we as a nation are "generally outraged". I actually doubt very much that he can claim for certain a majority of his own constituents are outraged. Has he personally heard from enough of them to know that for certain? .... maybe, my guess is he has an opinion, and he has enough letters that support him that he feels justified in extrapolating. Yes I am guessing, but he's doing a whole load of that himself.

Want to tell him what you are outraged about? Feel free

So, a bunch of you are going to kaleidascope this weekend. Those that aren't are looking at a 3 day weekend. If you are not leaving town, then let's do something. Helen and I would like to do a social outing with those people in town that have the time.

We are willing to open our house for a dinner and movie night thing. We are also game to go elsewhere. Right now, we are brainstorming. What are people up to over the weekend, and would anyone like to come over for a dinner/movie night?

Java based friends browser

This is seriously cool, though a little clunky to get any useful detail. It gives a N degrees of seperation chart. For instance I put in my name, and choose 1 degree, I get all my friends, and an interlinked graph of how all those friends are related to each other. I pick 2 degrees, I get all friends of friends added on.

You can choose up to 10 degrees, though it becomes a useless mass of lines that can't be followed.

This is probably somewhat cpu intensive, so I don't know whether everyone can run this, I'm guessing though.

Also, this is a source of endless amusement
