Monday night was a wonderful time with Socks in case you are wondering. Yes, Monday night was all right thank-you. :) Socks fed me home made paella, we feasted on that, and peach rhubarb pie, and ice cream, and each other. A most satisfactory evening.
Helen and I are a far cry from being done with the house it seems. There is more to pick re: wood, ceramic, carpet, and counter colours than we realized, and to many damn choices. They have over 100 ceramic tiles to pick from, and we have 9 places that we need to pick ceramic for (5 floor and 4 wall), and have it be pleasing to the eye. It's bewildering. We bugged
lrt512 and
xiphia last night with a few of our possibilities for kitchen tile and counters, but they have just seen the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
We also got the price for our kitchen *gulp*. It's higher than I thought it would be. Everyone that has looked at the price shrugs and says, of course, remodelling a kitchen is expensive. Well of course it is, but we aren't re-modelling, we are just modelling. In theory, we should be getting 100% credit for the existing kitchen. Considering that, we are only paying for the upgrades, the enhancements. Now maybe this is just what the enhancements will cost, and that is that. At the end of the day, I still want that kitchen, and I will pay it, but it uses up pretty much the rest of our budget. Anything else (central vac unit, air conditioning, alarm, furniture) has to be saved for from scratch know. I am not upset about this, I just need to adjust to the reality of it.
If you send me $5, and then you get 5 friends to send me $5, and they get 5 friends to send me $5, and so on, then soon I will have all the money I need. Who says pyramid schemes can't work. Hop to it my minions.
