If I make it into the weekend without a cold, I shall be fortunate. One of my co-workers has a bad one, but needs to be in the office anyways. He offered me some of his dutch wafers that he sometimes buys and I like, but I have declined since I don't want to enter his cubicle.

Knock on wood for me would you?

Helen and I went dancing last night. Medieval and renaissance dance, the second ever activity we ever did together, and the activity that she and I ran and taught for the local sca group for ..... 2 years or so? Then we (or at least I) burned out from running it and teaching it every week, and we have barely done any of it since then aside from occasional and infrequent visits. Not sure if we will get to it every week again, but we are certainly talking about making it more regular again. I think that might be nice....but maybe not next week as we are giving blood.

Tonight, I go out shoe shopping, and maybe determine if there is a chance in hell those size 14 docs at Rock Junction will fit me. Friday, I get to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] carlin, weekend....not sure yet. I don't want a cold!

I fee like the king of the damn world. HA! I popped off downtown tonight to check out Rock Junction. They have doc martens that actually go up to size 15! (as someone that gets all giddy when a store carries 14, I don't even know how to process the fact they have 15). I pulled a pair that looked like a decent style and gave it a shot.

They fit beautifully!

For all the concern over width, I should always be so lucky for fitting the first pair of footwear I grab off a shelf. I walked around, I squatted, I played with the lace tightness, I could find no fault other than a very small convern over whether they may a tich warm in summer. They are a 4 hole, plus 3 hook/eyelet thing, ankle height shoe, and thus probably a bit warmer than your average shoe, though still just the one layer of leather (no insulation or anything). However since I plan to get new sandals next summer (as my old ones are really dead after a great many years use), the issue of these being summer shoes is largely a non-issue. I tried on some other 14s in different styles, and they were all way to narrow. I learned that while docs are made in one width, that width varies from style to style. The first pair, was the right pair. I walked around a bit more, and then wore them out of the store (after paying). I am pleased. I had to re-learn the pivot point and pressure needed to work the car pedals, but after a few lurches, I was on my way, feeling pretty damn kick ass! They are a pricy shoe, more than I usually pay, but docs have a rep of lasting for ages, and I suspect it will be worth it.
