An islamic primer

I found this site a very interesting attempt to explain islam in layman's terms. How its beliefs translate to the current world, its place beside other faiths like christianity, and a plain english summary of just what muslims believe, or should believe at least according to the author's interpretation of the Qur'an.

The foundation that maintains the page lives on the outskirts of Houston Texas, and are facing some extreme prejudice from the community in their attempts to set up a mosque in the area.

It's an interesting read, and if you didn't know much about islam, maybe explain a few basic principles.

I need ideas.

What's doing tonight? Helen is out with green_ogre at his company christmas party. Part of me says I damn well need to get started on my christmas shopping, which is true...but I want to stategize a bit with Helen first on that front. I could do karaoke, I could crash lrt512's gaming evening, I may include a visit to the gym, I am pondering seeing Happy Feet, though may want to hold off so I can bring Helen...
