coolant

My car radiator is leaking coolant. I was actually told last *April* that the radiatior had a small leak, but at the time, I monitored the coolant levels, and they never budged. It seemed to be it let out a couple of drops in the garage, but hadn’t since. Even as late as the end of the summer, the levels were still dead even.

No more, it is leaking slowly, but surely. This morning it went below the minimum line. Of course, it’s a nice long weekend with all the garages unable to help me right in replacing the radiator. I need to get Canadian Tire to order me a new radiator on Tuesday (it’s not the kind of thing they just have on the shelves), and then…when it comes in, I can get it replaced. Until then…I need to buy more coolant and keep topping up.

The question as to when I should buy a new car keeps popping into the head, and there is never a clear answer. The resale value of my current car is basically rubbish, even though it does still run great (quirks like leaky radiators aside). Maybe this is the year? Maybe not?

Off to canadian tire to top up coolant. May the environment forgive me for the little drips I leave everywhere (including my driveway if I don’t drive, it’s not something that is prevented by not using the car).
