Seriously….is it only Sat. night so far?

Friday morning, I spent some 2+ hours hacking up the ice on my my driveway, then got the car out and drove to Toronto to visit tormenta, northbard, and corbet with plans to see Evil Dead the musical. For the record…it bloody well rocks! It’s not strictly speaking the finest written musical ever, but it was by far and away one of the most entertaining. The cabaret style setting first of all was nifty, and I’ve never been to a show where they hand out plastic ponchos at intermission. I declined one. We were in the second row, which only gets collateral splatter (as opposed to the first row which gets drenched). I got a few splashes on my shirt, but not much really. For the record…we are talking stage blood. By this, I mean big gushing geyser fountains splattering across the front row (mostly). It defies plain old description in words. It was very entertaining.

We went for a late night visit to a local Goth bar. I am not sure why I like the goth style, but I am so very far from being goth. Still, very cool outfits, cool music, good dancing, but my god LOUD!! I had trouble coping with the volume. I made them promise to take me back on another visit, but I am packing ear plugs.

Had brunch at a persian restaurant on Spadina the next morning, before heading home in time…for another show. I took in Sock n Buskin’s batboy at Carleton. It was pretty good….but surreal. There was one very trippy scene in act 2 that left me a bit perplexed….but it was still a credible production, certainly worth the fairly affordable ticket price they charge.
