I now have a M1 class license. This allows me to drive a motorcyle, so long as I am alcohol free, don’t go on the queensway, don’t take passengers, and don’t drive between sunset+half hour and sunrise-half hour.
I didn’t realize they would make me re-write my G1 exam, giving me essentially 2 exams to do. I did fine, 1 wrong answer on each (well, and 1 wrong on the road signs test), although I take issue with how one question was written.
Driving after having ingested alcohol has what effect on you.
a) Reduces your reaction time
b) Impairs your judgment and driving skills.
(c and d not relevant, they were clear wrong answers)
I ask you…what is the “right” answer there? For the record…it’s b), I picked a), on the basis that whether it lowered your skill was a bit debatable, just your ability to apply that skill. I am a bit annoyed they had a question that murky. Whatever.
Now, I sign up for a certified course in 2 months, on completion of which, I should have my M2 license. Before then, I need to buy a helmet, and gloves. Leather jacket I have, and boots I have, at least enough for course considerations. Where is it all heading? I am not sure I will buy my own bike….I have some financial concerns to take care of first, and with the whole discussion of my possible need for a new car….well considering a bike in addition seems a bit reckless (considering purchase, but also insurance). However, I hope to maybe rent one from time to time. Maybe for a trip out of town, maybe to get about town.
I’ll need to beg use of someone’s bike to circle an empty parking lot once or twice sometime soon, although I know people can be possessive of their bike. I have a few co-workers with bikes, and I know dagibbs has one…though I would never presume *cough*. It will be interesting to figure out what kind of bike I will fit on. I suspect I will be better suited to the style in which you sit back, rather than the ones where you are crouched forward, they seem to be a tighter fit.
Anyways…I think this is the 3rd year running I was *intending* to get it…and finally did. Go me.
