It is now noon. I have already eaten my sandwich, my granola bar, and my tin of fruit. You'd think that if I'd brought a lunch, I might damn well wait until lunchtime to eat it. This is part of the reason I am not in the habit of bringing lunches with me, because I eat them by 10:00, and then I'm still hungry after work. What I need to do is bring frozen lunches. If I have to get up, walk to the kitchen, and spend 5 minutes nuking it, then I won't eat it just because it's sitting here beside me.

In other news, Helen and I went to see Orpheus' production of Grease yesterday. Now not everyone likes Grease, but I do. I love 50s rock music, and the movie has an infectious unbridled joy to it that I love. The stage version (regardless of Orpheus' version of it) is a little different from the movie, some song differences, minor plot variations, that kind of thing, but it's the same general idea. This production in particular had its ups and downs. The artistic director was new, this was his first time directing. Unfortunately, it showed. Their were pacing problems, points where the energy was fading off where he should have found a way to move it along. It had these uncomfortable pauses. The sound mixing was awful, a problem which unfortunately plagues Orpheus from time to time, but was worse than usual here. Microphones were late coming on, or had poor balance. You could hear one lead clearly, another not at all. It was frustrating. The stage talent however, was excellent. They really got a good crop for this one. They had people that could act, could sing, and knew how to move on stage. The dance choreography was also by and large very good, and the born to hand-jive scene blew my mind in that they don't usually get their choreography that good. The male lead is actually a professional stage and musical actor, and one of the other male leads apparently used to work for cirque du soleil, so that's a large part of the reason.

I am now also completely psyched to audition for Rags WHICH I JUST NOTICED IS AUDITIONING THIS WEEK!!!!! They never audition while the current show is running, it's always the week after! Ack ack ack ack ack! I don't even have a song ready. I need to find something suitable right quick. Does anyone have sheet music for Ragtime? Hmm, I didn't think so. I like auditioning with a song from a similar style of music, but not from the same show. Mind you, at this point, I will just have to grab anything I can find that I can comfortably sing with 1 day's practice. I just need to book my audition now.

Ack!
