Helen and I watched Stepford Wives (the new one) last night.....it was passable. It definitely had some funny moments, and was obviously going for a comic angle, but I felt like it had the concept, but didn't quite know how to express it. The ending was also very rushed. Amusing enough, but it could have been better. I think it was trying to be too many things, funny AND creepy AND commentary AND dramatic....it should selected a genre and just stuck with it.

Bachelor weekend again. I am in the mood (among other things) to go and see some movies I have been meaning to see that Helen wouldn't care for. Perhaps I will rent Van Helsing, or go see National Treasure (yes, I expect it to be kind of stupid), or rent something else equally silly and devoid of cinematic quality. I am also pondering the Pride & Prejudice marathon and M&A's on the famous 6' tv screen...which has the added bonus of getting to visit and play with their husky (most adorable dog on earth). [livejournal.com profile] oninofro, we must consult on what movies you own that I need to see.

Some artificial deadlines are starting to weigh on my mind. I have a work task that is not part of my regular duties that has a milestone due at the end of the month....haven't started. This is part fo our quarterly do-these-extra-tasks-for-some-bonus-pay scheme we have at work, so it's *technically* optional, but who wants to turn down the extra money. I also only have 1 christmas present bought, and 2 more partially thought out....but there are more to get. I love the xmas season, although I wish gift ideas were easier to conceptualize. I also realized that I haven't been listening to my christmas music yet, chiefly because I am bussing to work now. I have to find my discman and see if it still works.

Phantom of the Opera

They now have a trailer that is less likely to cause an epilectic seizure in the unwary. It looks like it could be *very* good. PotO is not the best musical out there, and in fact some people like to denounce it or anything Andrew Lloyd Webber does, but I for one do like it. I also think it is a better *theoretical* choice for a movie than Chicago (though the actual implementation might still suck, who knows).

And look, it opens on Dec. 22. For the past 3 years, I have done a go see the latest Lord of the Rings film for my birthday party. Now they are done, but look, a new musical 2 days after my birthday. So I hereby say that I, and whomever I can talk into it, shall go see this film opening night. Helen and I leave for Toronto the day after, but that shouldn't preclude my ability to see a new muscial hit theatres. More details to come.

My icon looks even more apropos now.
